Latest upgrade to the Cube 29er is Jones H-Bar Loop Handlebars, the idea is to give more hand positions to keep comfortable on longer rides.

A beautiful sunny calm morning for a bicycle ride, so out to Stockbridge and back. Out on the N246 national cycle way which takes in the Test Way from Chilbolton to Stockbridge and then back through Longstock to the climb that is Church lane. Onwards to Kentboro, Monxton, Abbots Ann and Anna Valley. A very enjoyable smooth ride, it was funny i didn't feel like i was putting a big effort in but we managed to achieve personal best Strava segments.
Weather has turned rather warm and moist, short loop again. Unfortunately the cassette was jumping on a couple of cogs under tension, so it looks like for a replacement cassette and chain :-(
Marginal gains, average speed was up from 19.8km/h to 20.2km/h and managed to improve a couple of Strava Segments.
Gloriously bright and crisp morning again, so out on the Voodoo Hoodoo; really enjoying the smooth pedal action of the oval ring affords. Out via the clatfords down to the Fullerton cross roads, unfortunately we encounter the school run for the local infant school in Clatford which slows us down a little. Once out of Goodworth Clatford the country lanes where quiet again and up the long clime to the Fullerton crossroads, then though Red Rice and Abbots Anne then on towards Monxton, back via the Red Post lane to Anna Valley and home.
20km in an hour, trying out the new oval chain ring on the Voodoo Hoodoo. Out via the clatfords to the fullerton crossroads, and then to Abbot Ann and back via Anna Valley.
So the ordered Work Components 32T Oval Narrow Wide Chainring arrived to day, It was a very easy fitting, just swapped out the Moove Narrow Wide Chainring on the Voodoo Hoodoo and in a couple of minutes and we where on the road. I was expecting to notice the difference in shape more - but the new chain ring provided a very smooth pedal stroke. Will give it a proper ride out on the weekend. 20 Kilometres - a mixture of climbs and descents to test the new oval chain ring out, I have to say it felt very smooth, it was quite funny to be back on the Voodoo Hoodoo again, it felt rather small compared to the Cube Sting.
A crisp morning with a stiff breeze, covered 46km's in just over three hours, alot of it was spent hike a biking through the mudfest that is Collingbourne Wood. So out via Anna Valley, Weyhill, Fyfield, Kimpton and the Shoddesden's greater and minor. Through Ludgershall, and out onto Cadley Road towards Wexcombe. At 'The Shears Inn' took the byway east which takes you into Collingbourne Wood via Joyces' Copse, it was a real mudfest and the tyre combination was overwhelmed very quickly, so I ended up slip sliding along until we met the main fireroad which cuts through the Collingbourne. Once on the fireroad we made good progress and popped out onto the Chutes Causeway at Scot's Poor. I then proceeded back along the causeway to Conholt Park and the Hampshire gate and the gentle descent to Clanville and back via Weyhill.
Second event of the year registered for, the Houghton Trail Event Houghton Trail, a cross country fun run and cycle event that takes place each April in Houghton Hampshire. The event has been going for over twelve years and we often see more than 300 people turning up on the day. This year the entire proceeds raised will be donated to the Houghton All Saints Church, and the village hall. The amount raised last year was £3500. A very community orientated event, it proved to be good fun last year so doing it again this year.
Having taken last year off, we will be revisiting the South Downs Way in a day this July. This is the first event to be signed up for this year, more are sure to follow. Donations can be made via the Just Giving Website.
