New Rucksack arrived today the minimalist Alpkit Gourdon 20, which is essentially a dry bag with straps. They seem very popular as the Chilli Red one was out of stock at the time of ordering, so we went for the black one. It is very nicely made and we shall see how it holds up to it's intended use as a mountain bike hydration Pack. 5th April 2015 - First Serious test of the New Ruck Sack, was a forty mile cycle ride with a large DSLR camera and cycling paraphernalia filling out the Ruck Sack. I was a bit dubious about how comfortable it would be as the straps are not particularly generous, the waist strap is particularly skinny. But I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the Ruck Sack was, it remained stable on my back for the whole of the four hours I was out, having the heavier things at the bottom obviously helped with this. The light padding easily molded to my back. So the initial experience was positive indeed.
A rather hard slog this morning, and the insistent drizzle didn't help lift the mood of the ride, but 41 kilometers in 2 hour and 48 minutes. Tried out the new Maxxis High Roller rear tire and the bike was much more predictable in the muddy conditions than the Noddy Nic's tire it replaced. Due to the grey cold morning there was very little wildlife about apart from a Red Kite which was circling over Broughton.
